A teenager was stabbed in the face in a suspected sectarian attack in Belfast city centre.
A gang of five men set upon the 17-year-old youth and his friend, who was punched about the head and face during the attack in Shaftesbury Square on Saturday night.
The assailants were later seen walking towards Bradbury Place. The stabbed man was taken to hospital.
A police spokesman said detectives were investigating a "possible sectarian motive".
One of the attackers was described as being in his early 20s about five foot ten inches tall, of muscular build with short spiked blond hair. Another was about six foot tall, of skinny build, and with black gelled hair. He spoke with a broad Belfast accent. Police described the third man of being of "Indian origin" five foot seven inches tall and of average build.
