John Terry has set his sights on winning the Premiership title with Chelsea after signing a new four-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
Team-mate Carlton Cole signed a six-year contract.
Terry is hoping the likes of Eidur Gudjohnsen and William Gallas soon follow him in signing longer deals.
Terry told Sky Sports News: "I never wanted to leave the club and I'm delighted to be here for another four years.
"I always said I wanted to stay. Consistency made us a Champions League team last season, which we deserved, but if we can sign Carlton, Eidur and William and get the backbone of the team and build, we can push for the title".
The 22-year-old admitted that he was sad to see Italian Gianfranco Zola leave the club after the Italian rejected the offer of a new deal with the London club to sign for Serie B side Cagliari.
Terry added: "I can't believe it, I'm gutted. He's been a great player, a great professional. The fans will miss him".
