Lady Thatcher was on the campaign trail yesterday, declaring it would be a "tragedy" for Britain if Labour came to power. Asked if the country was facing the end of the Thatcher era with a possible Labour victory, the former prime minister said "I don't even contemplate it."
"If that Thatcher legacy ends, Britain goes down. It was we who put it right. Do you remember what it was like under Mr Callaghan, in the winter of discontent under the trade unions? We don't want that back again. It would be a tragedy for Britain," she told voters in Frontierland Theme Park in Morecambe, Lancashire.
