Will not be paying. I paid over €50,000 in stamp duty 5 years ago. Pay me back the stamp duty, and I will pay any future property tax — Paul

I have no objection to paying this tax, and in fact I'm glad I can do my bit to help get this state back on its feet. I don't want German or French taxpayers to have to pay for Irish banks or for the Irish government and public services. who pays the piper calls the tune — Fergal

I’m tired of the argument that every other country in Europe pays a property tax.

Every country in Europe has not paid such a large amount for their home. Every other country in Europe has not been hammered with the universal social charge which in my opinion should be more than enough to cover my property, refuse, and water charges. Enough is enough — Irene Kealy

Just pay up and shut up! Never heard so much rubbish and so many empty excuses. So what if you didn't get a piece of paper in the door about the charge and methodologies for paying?
