DAMIEN McLAUGHLIN (21): Before he left Clonmany on Sunday night, Damien McLaughlin had telephoned his girlfriend looking for her to come and give him a lift. However, he called her back to say he had a lift organised with Shaun Kelly.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Noleen, two brothers and a sister. Damien, who was from Umricam, worked as a carpenter and had attended Crana College in Buncrana.
PAUL DOHERTY (19)
From Ballyliffen, Paul Doherty was a cousin by marriage of Shaun Kelly, the driver. He would have been celebrating his 20th birthday this month. He was the second-eldest of four children of Felix and Sally.
EAMONN McDAID (22)
From Ballymagan, Eamonn McDaid was a neighbour of Shaun Kelly. Eamonn was described by a family friend as "the salt of the earth who will be terribly missed by his devastated parents Séamus and Martha". Eamonhad attended Crana College in Buncrana.
CIARÁN SWEENEY (19)
From Ballyliffen, Ciarán Sweeney worked for a butcher in Buncrana with his father Eamonn, after leaving Carndonagh Community School. A former teacher described him as a "normal young fellow who got on well with everyone". He had been going out with Shaun Kelly's sister.
JAMES McELENEY (23)
From Meenaduff, Clonmany, James McEleney had been working for a guttering company after he finished at Carndonagh Community School. His home is just a few kilometres from where he and his friends died.
MARK McLAUGHLIN (21)
From Fahan, Mark McLaughlin was a lorry driver who worked for a local quarry company. He is survived by parents John and Roma and his brother Damian. "People are coming from as far away as Australia," a family friend said. "Mark was a really nice young man who enjoyed life and worked hard."
PJ (MICK) McLAUGHLIN (21)
A Fahan native, PJ McLaughlin worked with his father, Charlie, in the family garage and breaker's yard. He was a popular young man who played football for a local team. Large numbers of his peers gathered outside his home on Monday night before making their way to his good friend Mark McLaughlin's house.
HUGH FRIEL (66)
Hugh Friel was the lone occupant of the Toyota Corolla which was involved in the crash with the VW Passat. He was a single man from Dunaff, Clonmany. He was described by neighbours as a modest, unassuming man who never drank and who loved his twice-weekly bingo games in Buncrana. A local female bingo-player said "he would stand in the porch and play the last game of the book and would leave immediately and always had his car parked nearby. A lovely, modest man".
It is believed the woman whose car was hit first by the Passat was at the same bingo game.
