The theme of WONCA's 15th international conference is "People and their Family Doctors - Partners in Care". It was opened on Sunday night by the President, Mrs McAleese, and continues at the RDS in Dublin until next Thursday evening.
Commonly known as the World Organisation of Family Doctors, WONCA is the international organisation representing national bodies which deal with academic aspects of family practice.
Established in 1972, its aim is to improve quality of life around the world by maintaining high standards of care in family practice.
There are now 68 member-organisations in 51 countries, representing 150,000 GPs worldwide.
