A third person is being held for questioning over the murder of a man in Dublin earlier this year.

A man in his 20s was arrested in north Dublin this morning in connection with the death of Peter Gunn (29), whose body was found in a ditch at Dunsoghly Lane close to the N2 on January 15th.

The man is being held in Finglas Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

A man in his late 20s and a woman in her teens were arrested in the north inner city on April 28th. They have since been released and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, a Garda spokesman said today.

Mr Gunn, from Larkhill Road, Whitehall, north Dublin, had gone missing on a night out almost two weeks prior to the discovery of his body, which had been dumped on the side of a minor roadway in the Ward leading to Finglas and close to the Brock Inn pub.

He was last seen in the early hours of Sunday, January 4th at Summerhill, Dublin. He had earlier met friends in a pub on Parnell Street.

A postmortem examination concluded the father-of-two had been stabbed. He had been dead for a number of days and gardaí believe he was most likely killed on the night he was last seen and his remains then dumped.

Gardaí had initially believed his murder was not linked to gangland crime, although they did not ruled out the possibility that he was killed in a row with somebody involved in the drugs trade.
