DETECTIVES INVESTIGATING the murder of father of two Daniel Treacy (35) in Limerick made their third arrest yesterday.

DETECTIVES INVESTIGATING the murder of father of two Daniel Treacy (35) in Limerick made their third arrest yesterday.

A 51-year-old man was arrested on the north side of the city and brought to Roxboro Road Garda station, where he is being detained under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, which allows for detention of up to seven days.

On Wednesday night, gardaí obtained a 72-hour extension to allow them continue questioning a 29-year-old man arrested in the Moyross area of Limerick at around 10.30pm on Monday for questioning about the shooting.

A 28-year-old man also arrested on Monday was released without charge on Tuesday night and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Mr Treacy’s removal took place last night, and he will be buried at Doonass Cemetery following requiem Mass at St Mary’s Church on Athlunkard Street at 11am today.
