Ankara - Tens of thousands of civilians and soldiers marched throughout Turkey yesterday in a large display of support for a secular establishment that faces a growing Islamist protest movement.
The processions came as parliament is frozen by censure motions against the weak minority government and party leaders are unable to agree on the timing of early general elections. Large gatherings also took place in Istanbul, in Diyarbakir, capital of the mainly Kurdish south-east, and else where.
