Several thousand teachers, parents and school board members are expected to attend a protest march in Dublin tomorrow against education cuts outlined in the Budget.

The demonstration, which has been organised on a joint basis by the INTO, TUI, ASTI and IFUT unions, will begin at Parnell Square at noon.

The protesters, who will be marching under a "Schools United" banner, will travel from Parnell Square, down O'Connell Street and onto D'olier Street before heading up to Nassau Street and finishing with a rally at Merrion Square.

A number of speakers are expected to address the rally including David Begg, general secretary of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU).

Gardaí have said that they are expecting up to 20,000 protestors to take part in tomorrow's rally and have warned people to expect severe traffic disruptions between 1pm and 3 pm.

Merrion Square West will be closed for the duration of the march and rally and Dublin Bus will be diverting services via Merrion Square East and Holles St until 3pm.
