Three plays staged by the Abbey Theatre on the Peacock stage last year have won 2012 Stewart Parker Trust Awards.
Nancy Harris won the new playwright bursary (valued at £8,000) for her play No Romance, which was commissioned by the Abbey and received its world premiere at the Peacock in March 2011.
Harris is the daughter of Sunday Independent editor Anne Harris and columnist Eoghan Harris. It was her first work to be professionally produced.
Stacey Gregg won the BBC radio drama award (valued at £1,000) for her play Perve. She was another playwright who featured in the Abbey’s new writing season last year with the world premiere of Perve presented on the Peacock stage in May 2011.
Paul Mercier was winner of the BBC Northern Irish language award (valued at £1,000) for Sétanta, which ran at the Peacock in December 2011.
He had previously written and directed The Passing and The East Pier at the Abbey, while his productions there include Homeland and Down the Line.
