Three people were believed killed and almost 200 people injured when a new earth tremor struck Algeria's capital and Mediterranean cities to its east today, the Interior Ministry said.
"Their injuries were due to panic," Deputy Interior MinisterMohamed Guendil told Algerian state television.
"Unconfirmedreports from witnesses indicated that three people were killedwhen they were searching for their belongings in a 15-storeyblock apartment that completely collapsed in Reghaia."
The tremor came less than a week after an earthquake killedmore than 2,200 people.
