Three men are in custody in Dundalk this afternoon after gardaí and customs officers seized an estimated €180,000 worth of cannabis resin, the Garda said.

A Garda spokesman said the drugs were seized following a planned search of a house in the Bay Estate area of Dundalk town at around 1 p.m.

The operation involved Revenue's customs service, the Garda National Drugs Unit and the Dundalk Garda drugs unit.Three men in their thirties and one man in his forties were arrested under section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act and are being held at Dundalk Garda station. They may be held for up to seven days, the Garda spokesman said.

The cannabis was contained in a package consigned from Spain, which was detected as a result of Customs profiling, a statement from the Revenue said.
