The three men who died in a six-car collision on the M50 motorway near the Finglas turnoff in Dublin last night have been named today.

Mr Robert Fitzsimons (27), of Whitestown Park, Dublin 15, Mr Jason Nugent (19), from Fortlawn Drive, Blanchardstown, Co Dublin and Fr David Boylan (35), of St Agnes' Road in Crumlin died in the accident.

A woman with minor injuries was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown in Dublin.

The crash happened last night on the south-bound route close to the Finglas turn-off shortly before 10 o'clock, and the section is currently closed.

North Dublin Fine Gael councillor, Mr Sean Dolphin, today called on the National Roads Authority to put crash barriers across the central reservation of the M50 to prevent such collisions in the future.

The crash brings the number of people killed on the roads over the weekend to 10.
