A MAN was killed in Co Kerry early yesterday after being hit by a car, while another man died in a separate incident in Co Down on Saturday evening.

A 24-year-old Polish man was hit by a car on Woodlawn Road, Killarney, shortly after 4am on Sunday. Two women, who are also Polish nationals, were brought to Kerry General Hospital where they received treatment for minor injuries. It is understood all those involved had been socialising together in the town earlier.

The area was preserved for technical examination until lunchtime yesterday.

Gardaí in Killarney have not named the dead man. They were contacting the Polish embassy to get in touch with the man’s family, before officially naming him.
