Gardai were tonight questioning three men about the murder of a 25-year-old man in Limerick.

Gardai were tonight questioning three men about the murder of a 25-year-old man in Limerick.

The body of Keith Ryan, 25, from the Farranshone area of the city, was found by a passer-by under the Shannon Bridge at Condell Road at around 11pm last night.

Mr Ryan, who was believed to have been socialising earlier, had suffered serious head and back injuries.

A Garda spokesman said three men had been arrested in connection with his death under Section 12 of the Criminal Justice Act.

"They are being detained in Henry Street and Roxboro Road Garda station," he said.

The men are all in their 20s and from Limerick city. Mr Ryan's body has been brought to the Mid West Regional Hospital, where a post mortem exam will be carried out by the state pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses in the Shannon Bridge area to contact them.
