Three people have been arrested and questioned by gardai in Dundalk as part of an investigation into serious crime in the area.

Two armed raids are among the crimes being investigated. A 29-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman with an address in Tallaght were arrested yesterday. A second man in his forties was arrested later in the same day.

The men remain in custody under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act. The woman was released without charge at midnight.

The gardai are investigating a series of raids in Dundalk and Louth in which the perpetrators wore garda uniforms and claimed they were members of An Garda Siochana.
