Two men and a woman have been remanded in custody after they appeared in court in Cork today over a fracas on the northside of the city last night in which gardaí were assaulted.
Brian Blake (40) and his son, Alan (19) from Hollyville, Hollyhill and Mary Wyse (37) from Harbour View Road, Knocknaheeny were brought before Cork District Court today where they were charged with a total of 17 offences arising out a disturbance in Knocknaheeny
Brian Blake was charged with three counts of Section 2 assault, namely that he did assault Gda Kieran Barrett, Gda Peter Desmond and Gda Donal Kelly at Harbour View Road in Knocknaheeny on June 21st.
Brian Blake was also charged with four offences contrary to the Public Order Act namely that he did engage in threatening and abusive behaviour, refusing to leave the scene when asked to do so, violent disorder and obstruction of Gda Desmond on the same occasion.
Alan Blake was charged with two counts of Section 2 assault, namely that he did assault Gda Kieran Barrett and Gda Peter Desmond and with the same four public order offences as his father except that the obstruction charge related to Gda Barrett.
Mary Wyse was charged with four offences under the Public Order Act including engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour, refusing to leave the scene, violent disorder and obstruction of Gda Stephen Ahern.
Insp Gary McPolin said that gardaí were objecting to bail for all three accused and following submissions by both gardai and defence solicitors, Judge Con O'Leary remanded all three in custody to appear again at Cork District Court on June 29th.
