Three RUC officers have been injured during disturbances on the Ardoyne road in North Belfast this afternoon.
The trouble broke out shortly after 2 p.m. Members of the RUC and the British Army held a line between two groups, with about 40 on each side.
The RUC and British Army are still at the scene, but the numbers involved in the disturbances are now dwindling.
Tension on the Ardoyne road has increased in recent months, with an ongoing protest over the route to the Holy Cross Catholic Primary School.
Parents and children on their way to and from the school have been subjected to taunts, insults and stone-throwing.
More recently, Protestant residents have been turning their backs and standing in silence as the children are escorted to and from the school and blowing whistles when parents are returning from leaving the children at school or walking up to collect them.
