A Tipperary couple were celebrating today as they collected Lotto winnings worth more than €9 million in Dublin.
The winning ticket, worth a whopping €9,169,277, is the eight highest jackpot won since the game began in 1988.
The lucky couple, who have chosen to remain anonymous, selected their winning numbers based on the date they were married, and two other random numbers.
The couple, who collected their winnings from the National Lottery Offices this afternoon, have always used the same set of numbers and previously won a Match 5 prize worth around €1,200 last year.
The €16 Multidraw ticket was purchased at Supervalu in Main Street, Cashel, on November 7th.
Speaking after accepting their cheque today the couple said had no immediate plans for the win – 'a good family Christmas and we'll see what comes after that'.
