A young man is to go on trial today on charges arising out of an alleged rape in Tipperary three years ago. A jury of eight men and four women was sworn in for the case at the Central Criminal Court yesterday.
The accused man pleaded not guilty to raping a woman on September 4th/5th, 1994. He has also pleaded not guilty to assaulting the woman, occasioning her actual bodily harm and attempting to choke her with intent to enable him to rape her.
