Mr Iain Duncan Smith officially launched his Conservative party leadership bid this morning saying the party must heal its wounds over Europe.
The shadow defence secretary wants to broaden the base and appeal of the party.
He claims the party has allowed itself to be painted by opponents as "a narrow sect".
He is promising a Tory front bench open to all talents, with those who want to campaign for the euro allowed to temporarily stand down from their positions during any future referendum campaign.

Mr Duncan Smith is the first confirmed challenger to Mr Michael Portillo although Mr David Davis is expected to announce his candidacy later.
