Tottenham have completed the signing of Goran Bunjevcevic from Red Star Belgrade for £5 million.
The 29-year-old defender has had his work permit application accepted by the Department of Employment and is now free to begin his career at White Hart Lane.
Bunjevcevic, described as "a Franz Beckenbauer type player", becomes manager Glenn Hoddle's third summer signing following the arrival of Teddy Sheringham and Gus Poyet.
The Karlovac-born defender's last three clubs have all been in Belgrade. He played for Graficar, Rad and Red Star before agreeing to move to London.
Bunjevcevic has won 14 caps for Yugoslavia and has a league championship and Yugoslav cup winner's medal from his time with Red Star Belgrade.
His only previous appearance in England was for Red Star against Leicester City in the 2000-01 UEFA Cup.
