A move aimed at speeding up legislation to outlaw ticket touting was rejected at a meeting of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Tourism, Sport and Recreation yesterday.
The author of the Prohibition of Ticket Touts Bill, Mr Denis Naughten TD, said it was "a disgrace" that the Bill had been stalled by the Government since last March, allowing touts to continue to prey on sports and music fans.
Speakers opposing the motion said it should be delayed for a month to give the Minister further time to get the response of various departments to the Bill.
