Gearoid Towey and Sam Lynch have qualified for the semi-finals of the lightweight double sculls at the World Rowing Championships in Milan after winning their heat this afternoon.
The Irish duo came home ahead of their main rivals from Denmark in a time of 6:32.31 and progress to Thursday's semis.
However, the lightweight pair of Derek Holland and Neil Casey, who have been going well in preparation for these championships, face into Wednesday's repechages after finishing third in their heat.
The lightweight women's pair of Sinead Jennings and Fiona Foley face a similar fate after crossing the line fourth in heat 1.
