Any one for cricket? Well too bad because there won't be any cricket until next weekend when Railway Union and North County meet in Clontarf next Friday for the final of the Royal Liver Irish Senior Cup.
But, apart from traffic, there is a very full weekend of fun and games ahead with the highlight, surely, the Ireland v Wales rugby International at Lansdowne Road tomorrow.
Kick-off is at 2.45 p.m., but there will be traffic restrictions in place from very early in the day. Landsdowne Road, Newbridge Avenue and Herbert Road will be closed to through traffic from 1.30 p.m. until after the match. Parking restrictions will also be in place from 8am on the left hand side of Landsdowne Road from Shelbourne Road to Bath Ave and both sides of Landsdowne Road from Shelbourne Road to Herbert Bridge.
On the north side of the city, the Senior Hurling Championship semi-final replay takes place at Croke Park on Saturday when Wexford play against Cork with a starting time of 3.30 p.m., while on Sunday the second Minor and Senior Hurling when Kilkenny play Cork in the minor and, again, Kilkenny play Tipperary in the senior semi-final.
AA Raodwatch has warned that on both days traffic will be very heavy and parking restrictions will apply all around the ground.
So, instead, you might decide to head for the Park, the Phoneix one that is. The Park car races celebrate their 100th anniversary this year and there will be racing throughout the entire weekend. Traffic will be halted and diverted from Chesterfield Avenue at the Phoenix Monument, the Cabra Gate and Chapelizod Gate starting from . . .well starting since this morning and continuing until Monday morning.
Weatherwise, it looks like the entire weekend will be pretty much a mixed bag of allsorts. This evening there will be sunny spells with winds light, and highest temperatures 19-22 degrees. Tomorrow will be cloudy with some sunshine, with highest temperatures between 18 and 23 degrees. Sunday will be showery with temperatures between 10 and 19.
But none of that appears to have discouraged people from travelling and traffic this afternoon is already heavy and likely to stay that way until well into the evening, again, according to AA Roadwatch.
Road conditions are dry around the country. Traffic is moving very well on the N2 through Ashbourne, the N7 through Kildare and continues to move along through Drogheda on the N1.
In Limerick, traffic delays are likely on Bishops's Quay, Howley's Quay, Harvey's Quay and Honan's Quay until Tuesday, 19th August inclusive. This is due to emergency works.
In Wicklow traffic on the N11 is being diverted to a new road section at the Cullenmore bends. Roadworks on Paddy Browns Road near the entrance to the IDA entrance in Waterford continue today, expect delays in the area later. In Cork, there is very little traffic on Brian Boro Bridge so the roadworks are causing little disruption.
For those who didn't hear already, there was a serious power cut in the US and Canada which has affected flights and although some flights have landed at Aer Rianta airports over the course of the day many flights from the US and Canada are seriously delayed, or have been canceled
All ferries are sailing to schedule today, and both Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann are running to their usual schedules.
