Air traffic controllers are to be paid amounts ranging up to £560 each for working on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, writes Industry and Em- ployment Correspondent, Padraig Yeates. The offer from the Irish Aviation Authority has been accepted by the air traffic controllers' union IMPACT.
Up to 80 controllers are expected to be working over the New Year bank holiday period. Anyone rostered to work will be paid £28 an hour on top of existing bank holiday premia.
This payment increases to £70 an hour for controllers working between 10 p.m. on New Year's Eve and 4 a.m. on New Year's Day.
