Traffic in Dublin city will be restricted on Monday to accommodate the Dublin Marathon. Some 10,000 runners are expected, the highest total in the event's 22-year history.
Half the 8,890 athletes who participated last year were from outside the State, with 50 countries represented. The marathon is estimated to be worth £10m to the city's economy annually.
The main marathon will start near the Four Courts, at the junction of Church Street and Arran Quay at 9 a.m. Wheelchair competitors will start at 8.55 a.m. and cerebral palsy competitors, five minutes later.
Motorists who wish to cross the city on Monday are urged to use the East or West Link toll bridges. The following roads will be closed:
Arran Quay (6.30 a.m. to 10 a.m.); Inns Quay (8.30 a.m. to 10 a.m.); Church Street (7.30 a.m. to 10 a.m.);
Ormond Quay Upper (8.30 a.m. to 10 a.m.); Bachelors Walk (8.30 a.m. to 10 a.m.); Eden Quay 8.30 a.m. to 10 a.m.); Custom House Quay (8.30 a.m. to 10 a.m.);
North Wall Quay (8.30 a.m. to 10 a.m.); New Wapping Street (8.30 a.m. to 10 a.m.); Sheriff Street Upper (8.30 a.m. to 10 a.m.); North King Street (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.);
City Quay (9 a.m. to 10 a.m.); Lombard Street (9 a.m. to 10 a.m.); Westland Row (9 a.m. to 10 a.m.); Merrion Square North (9 a.m. to 10 a.m.); Merrion Street Lower (9 a.m. to 10 a.m.);
Mount Street Lower (9 a.m. to 10.30 a.m.); Northumberland Road (9 a.m. to 10.30 a.m.); Merrion Road (9 a.m. to 10.30 a.m.);
Nutley Lane (9.15 a.m. to 10.45 a.m.); Foster's Avenue (9.15 a.m. to 11.15 a.m.). Stillorgan traffic will be diverted via The Rise.
Other roads closed include Roebuck Road (9.15 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.); Clonskeagh Road (9.20 a.m. to 12.15 p.m.);
Eglinton Road (9.30 a.m. to 12.15 a.m.); Donnybrook Road (9.30 a.m. to 12.15 p.m.); Morehampton Road and Leeson Street Upper and Lower and St Stephen's Green South (9.30 a.m. to 12.15 p.m.);
Cuffe Street, Kevin Street Lower, New Street and Clanbrassil Street (9.20 a.m. to 12.15 p.m.); Kimmage Road Lower (9.45 p.m. to 1.45 p.m.); Inchicore Road (10.10 a.m. to 2.45 p.m.); St Laurence Road (10.15 a.m. to 3 p.m.).
Cross-city traffic will be diverted via Sarah Bridge, Frank Sherwin Bridge or the East Link Bridge, AA Roadwatch said. Parking will be prohibited in the immediate vicinity of the start and finish areas. The finish line is at Smithfield.Water stations and toilets will be in place at regular intervals.
