A man remained "very ill" in hospital last night following a shooting at a Traveller site in Dublin on New Year's Day.
Three other men were less seriously injured in the incident at St Dominic's Park in Coolock. It is believed to have arisen from a disagreement between two families.
Gardaí were yesterday still trying to establish the identity of those who were responsible for the shooting.
The shooting occurred at 12.20 p.m. on Saturday, when a silver Toyota Yaris was driven into St Dominic's Park, a caravan site off the N32 Malahide Road.
Two men in the car fired shots at a number of men who were talking outside their homes. They then drove back out on to the Malahide Road.
Four men, aged between 24 and 36, were injured, and all were taken to Beaumont Hospital.
While three sustained superficial wounds to their backs and arms, one was transferred to the Mater Hospital.
A hospital spokeswoman said last night that one man remained "very ill" with shotgun wounds to the face and a punctured lung.
The silver Yaris was recovered nearby a short time after the incident. A Garda spokesman would not comment on whether it had been stolen.
A Garda car was yesterday afternoon blocking public access to the St Dominic's Park area as a team of 12 gardaí carried out searches and took statements.
It is understood that the shooting arose as a result of a feud between two families.
The area has a large Traveller population of up to 500. As well as the St Dominic's site, there is the Cara Park halting site and the Northern Close group housing scheme.
Coolock gardaí want anyone who may have seen the car or the two men in it at about midday on New Year's Day to contact them on (01) 6664200.
