London - Elton John's tribute song to Princess Diana was yesterday declared the world's biggest-selling single after 31.8 million copies had been distributed around the globe.
The Guinness Book of Records said A Candle in the Wind had overtaken the previous global record seller, Bing Crosby's White Christmas, which has sold an estimated 30 million copies worldwide.
A Candle in the Wind, which reduced millions to tears during Diana's funeral, took just 37 days to beat Crosby's record, set over the 55 years since his record's release.
