The leaders of the Northern Ireland Executive, Mr David Trimble and Mr Mark Durkan, are to visit the Taoiseach in Dublin later today.
It is the first such meeting to be held between the three men in Dublin.
The Ulster Unionist leader and the SDLP leader have both visited the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern at Government Buildings on separate occasions in the past.
Mr Durkan held his first meeting with the Taoiseach last November, after taking over leadership of the SDLP from Mr John Hume.
