Around 100 truckers held a protest at the East-Link bridge over the Government's failure to remove the tolls on the bridge.

Two convoys of heavy goods vehicles, totalling around 100 trucks, blocked the bridge on both sides of the River Liffey between 7am and 9.30am.
Spokesman for the Irish Road Haulage Association Jimmy Quinn said the protest was being held because the Government had failed to remove toll fees despite previous assurances. The current East Link toll rates for commercial vehicles range up to €4.30.
He argued that truckers will have no option but to use the bridge when the Dublin Port Tunnel opens later this year. The bridge is also only the route they can use to access a major container handling company on the south bank quay.
Mr Quinn said a toll in the middle of Dublin Port is not viable for hauliers and accused the Department of Transport of failing them and going back on its promise to remove the toll.
He said IRHA members were also unhappy with Dublin City Council's recently-published HGV management strategy which suggested that the toll charges be reviewed in the years ahead.
Gardaí said the protest went off without any major problems.
