Paris - French truckers protesting over pay and work hours set up dozens of blockades across the country yesterday and disrupted traffic at key border crossings.
The National Traffic Information Centre said 68 roadblocks were in place by mid-afternoon on strategic freight routes including frontier crossings with Belgium, Germany and access roads to ferry port links with Britain.
Truck drivers said a government pact with their employers would deprive them of some of the main benefits which employees in other sectors would enjoy with a national transition to a shorter 35-hour working week.
