Italian driver Jarno Trulli has been handed back his fourth place finish from the Indianapolis grand prix following a ruling by an International Automobile Federation (FIA) appeal tribunal today.

Jordan driver Trulli had been stripped of the result on September 30th after race officials found the rear wheel of his car was in breach of strictly imposed Formula One regulations

The decision meant Eddie Irvine of Jaguar moved up to fourth place in the race which was won by Finland's two-Formula One world champion Mika Hakkinen.

However after a meeting in Paris the international tribunal annulled the original decision highlighting the "absence of any race officials during the (Jordan) team's appeal."
