Italian Jarno Trulli has reached an agreement to stay at Jordan next year, his manager, Lucio Cavuto, said today.
But Cavuto said Trulli must wait for a decision from Renault, who own his 2002 contract, before his position could be finalised.
Trulli had a contract with Benetton boss Flavio Briatore for next season when the Benetton team will be rebranded as Renault.
"We found an agreement with Eddie [Jordan] after Hockenheim and it is now up to Renault to give us the possibility to stay with Jordan," said Cavuto.
Benetton have yet to name a second driver to line up alongside Briton Jenson Button. Current partner Italian Giancarlo Fisichella is out of contract.
Cavuto said he was unsure whether Renault would opt to retain Fisichella or perhaps name Trulli as Button's team mate.
"First we wanted to find a solution with Jordan, which we did, so it is up to Renault," he said. "I expect an announcement in Hungary".
