Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit appointed a new deputy today , the day after long-time ally Mr Husamettin Ozkan quit the post in a move that threatens to wreck the government, NTV television said.
The television station reported that Mr Ecevit had appointed Mr Sukru Sina Gurel as deputy prime minister and had also made three new appointments to replace other ministers who resigned yesterday with Mr Ozkan.
