Ankara - Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit has written to leaders of the Group of Seven rich industrial nations and northern European countries in search of support to rescue his country from an economic crisis, a local newspaper reported yesterday. Hurriyet quoted Mr Ecevit as saying he had sent letters to his Dutch, Belgian and Swiss counterparts along with leaders of the G7.
The letters come ahead of a key week in Turkey when the government is due to present an economic programme designed to win back market confidence and draw rescue loans from abroad. Turkey has been searching for financial help from abroad after being badly hit by a financial crisis in February.
