Two Afghan aid workers have been wounded in an attack by suspected fighters of the formerTaliban regime in northern Afghanistan.
The attack happened at the weekend, thesecond such incident in two weeks, police said today.
The workers for the Britain-based Save the Children Fundwere wounded when their car was ambushed in the Char Bolak area west of the city of Mazar-i-Sharif on Sunday, the city's police chief said.
He said the attack happened on a highway where a rocket was fired at a vehicle of a Britain-based demining agency two weeks ago, causing no casualties.
The latest attack came amid a spate of violence acrossAfghanistan in which dozens have died, fuelling concerns about an increasingly bold and resurgent Taliban movement.
This month, a Pakistani newspaper quoted a Talibanspokesman as saying the guerrillas had decided to extendattacks to the north of the country, having previouslyfocused on areas bordering Pakistan.
