Two men are being questioned by gardaí following their arrest at Indreabhán, Co Galway yesterday evening.
Gardaí said the men were arrested following an intelligence-led operation into organised crime.
Officers from Galway and Salthill supported by the Garda Emergency Response Unit (ERU) arrested two males in their 30s at about 5.30pm near the post office in Indreabhán.
A number of items including a firearm, knives, balaclavas, gloves and mobile phones, were recovered. The men are being held under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Galway Garda station.
