Gardaí have arrested two men in connection with a shooting in Dublin's south inner city last night where a man was seriously injured.
Gardaí were called to an incident at Gray Square off Meath Street at around 9pm. The man, who is in his 20s, was seriously injured when a lone gunman entered a house on the Square and opened fire, the injured man was removed to St James Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.
It is believed that the gunman made his escape in a car that was recovered near the scene. This car has been preserved for technical examination
Later in the evening two men were arrested when a car was stopped near the scene of the shooting.
The victim, who is known to gardaí, was wounded in the face, leg, arms and shoulder. He is described as being in a stable but critical condition.
The attack is understood to be part of a feud between Drimnagh and Crumlin-based gangs that has already claimed nine lives.
"Officers from Kevin Street Garda Station have preserved the scene and are making further inquiries in the area," a Garda spokesman said.
