Two teenagers are to appear before Naas District Court on Wednesday facing charges arising from a high-speed car chase across two counties yesterday.
The two boys, both from Tallaght, Dublin, and aged 14, were charged yesterday under provisions of Section 112 of the Road Traffic Act relating to driving, and allowing oneself to be carried in, a stolen vehicle.
They were arrested after a Garda patrol car and two stolen vehicles - a jeep and a Honda car - crashed at Burgage in Blessington at 7 a.m. after a three-hour chase between the Co Wicklow village, Tallaght and back.
A third teenager, aged 15, was seriously injured in the chase and was said to be in a stable condition in intensive care at Naas General Hospital last night. Two gardai from Blessington Station received injuries, one to an eye and the other to a collar bone.
A total of four stolen cars were involved in the incident: three jeeps, taken from Templeogue, Ballymore Eustace and Tallaght, and the Honda, also taken from Tallaght.
