Two men have died and another is in a serious condition in hospital following a two vehicle collision near Virginia, Co Cavan.
The incident, which involved a car and a van, happened on the N3 at Lisduff at about 10.30pm.
The driver of the van, who was in his late 20s, and a passenger in his 30s were both killed.
The driver of the car, a man in his 50s, was taken to Cavan General Hospital and has since been moved to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
His condition was described as serious but not life threatening.
Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collison and the scene has been closed to facilitate the examination of the area by a Garda forensic team.
