An inquest into the shooting dead of an innocent man outside his home was adjourned today as a Garda murder investigation continues.
Keith Fitzsimons (23), from Glin Grove in Coolock, was shot a number of times on June 2nd, 2006, as he stood with friends in the front garden of a house in north Dublin.
He was not believed to have been the intended target. He was hit four times and died in the garden on Millbrook Road, Ayrfield. Two other men were injured.
A number of arrests were made, but no one has been charged with the murder.
Det Insp Walter O'Sullivan asked Dublin City Coroner's Court for the inquest to be adjourned for another six months to allow for further investigations. Coroner Dr Brian Farrell adjourned the hearing until July 11th.
A separate inquest into a second gun murder was adjourned until the same date. James Purdue (22) was shot dead outside his home in Donaghmede, north Dublin on June 19th, 2006.
The murder was linked to a feud with a drug dealer but his family, who attended the brief hearing at the Coroner's Court, insist he was not involved in drugs.
Mr Purdue was shot twice in the leg and thigh outside his apartment in Grattan Wood. No one has been charged with the killing.
