Two elderly people have died on the State's roads in the past 24-hours.
An 81-year-old man died following a car crash in Co Carlow.
He was killed when two cars collided shortly after 5pm yesterday at Ballyknockan, Leighlinbridge, a Garda statement said.
The man was the driver of one of the cars. He has been named by gardaí today as Vincent McDonald of Ballyconnell, Tullow, Co Carlow.

A 75-year-old woman has also died after a crash in Galway. The pedestrian was hit by a truck on Thursday at Forster Street and she died in hospital yesterday evening, gardaí said.
The latest fatalities bring to 312 the number of people killed on the State's roads this year, according to Garda statistics.
