Army bomb disposal teams have made safe a first World War grenade in Leitrim and an explosive device in Dublin overnight.

In the first incident, a squad arrived at a private residence in Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim, at 8.20pm after a Mills type grenade was found in the garden. The grenade was taken away and destroyed in a controlled explosion. The scene was declared safe at 9pm.

The Defence Forces also dealt with a suspect device found outside a residence in Tallaght. The team arrived at 12.50am, and the area was declared safe at 3.40am.

Bomb disposal squads have attended seven incidents in the past four days - five in Dublin and one in Cork and Leitrim.
