The PSNI is investigating the deaths of an estranged husband and wife in Co Antrim.

The woman (33) was found dead in a house in the Carnbeg Meadows area at 8.30am.

Her husband (34) was a short time later found dead in a red Ford Escort in a car park in the Kells area of Antrim.

A PSNI spokeswoman said members of the serious crime branch were investigating the deaths and following a definite line of inquiry.

The are attempting to trace the movement of the Ford Escort, registartion R527BM, between 2am and 6am today.

They have also appealed to anyone who heard a disturbance in the Carnbeg Meadows area at 3am to contact them.

Local Ulster Unionist Party councillor Adrian Watson, who knew them, said the area was shocked by the deaths.

"When the news started breaking, friends and family, everybody was in total shock," he said.

"With a young family, lovely house, everything seemed to have been going quite well.

"Certainly no-one would have suspected this event would have been brought to their door. A complete shock to everybody."

Mr Watson said they were well known and liked in the area.
