Two men were being held in the Bridewell garda station last night after three shots were fired during a soccer match yesterday afternoon at O'Devaney Gardens on the North Circular Road, Dublin. Gardai said they did not believe the attack was in any way linked to the incident on a soccer pitch in Clondalkin on Sunday in which shots were also fired.
Gardai said the men were a father and son. One of them attempted to escape on a mountain bike but was caught by gardai. They are being held under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act. Gardai believe the dispute was a domestic matter.
