Two men are being held by gardaí this morning following the discovery of cannabis and ecstasy  worth €11 million in two separate drug hauls in Dublin.

Gardaí from the Blanchardstown detective unit and drugs unit seized drugs with a street value of more than €6 million yesterday evening in the Ballycoolin area.

A man in his fifties was arrested after the lorry was stopped and searched and was found to be carrying 600 kilogrammes of cannabis and 150,000 ecstasy tablets.

He is being held at Blanchardstown Garda station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act, where he can be detained for up to seven days. The lorry is being examined.

Earlier in the afternoon five kilogrammes of cannabis with an estimated street value of €5 million was found in a van in Phibsboro.

An man in his twenties was arrested in connection with the seizure and is being held at Mountjoy Garda station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act 1996.
