Two people have been arrested following separate drug seizures in Dublin Airport yesterday evening.

Two people have been arrested following separate drug seizures in Dublin Airport yesterday evening.

A 26-year-old Spanish man was detained after Customs officers found 10.6 kilos of herbal cannabis in his baggage. He had arrived on a flight from Bilbao.

The value of the drugs was estimated at nearly €130,000.

In the second seizure, 13.6 kilos of herbal cannabis, valued at €160,000, were discovered in the baggage of a 46-year-old South African woman. She had traveled into Dublin from Johannesburg via Abu Dhabi.

Both were taken to Santry Garda station for questioning. They are expected to appear in court later today

Custom officers also made three large seizures of prescription sleeping tablets yesterday. Some 14,000 Limovan, Zopicalma and Dorimidan tablets, with an estimated value of around €70,000, were found on passengers traveling into Ireland on flights from Malaga.

A fourth person was arrested on Monday after they were found to be in possession of over 12,000 tablets worth over €63,000. They were also stopped after disembarking from a flight from Malaga.

Files are being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions in all four cases.
