Two men have been injured in shooting incidents in Belfast and Newry.

A man was said to be in a stable condition in hospital after he was shot last night at Ballyskeagh Greyhound Track near Lisburn.

A greyhound meeting was taking place when the incident happened at 8.40 p.m. The victim is understood to have been working in the controller's office when a lone gunman entered the office, singled him out, and shot him.

The injured man suffered a gunshot wound to his back. Police are treating the incident as an attempted murder.

Earlier yesterday evening a man in his 50s suffered an arm wound when he was attacked in Newry, Co Down. The incident happened shortly before 6 p.m. when two armed men entered a business premises on the Armagh Road and singled out the man to be shot.

He was treated in hospital for his injuries but last night he was released from hospital. The RUC is also treating this attack as attempted murder.
